Nature has always been a patient teacher. Beginning November 9, we’ll celebrate the lessons it continues to share — stillness, resilience, wonder, stewardship, and care. Each day of our Lessons from the Parks campaign will highlight a truth from our newest publication, Everything I Need to Know I Can Learn from a National Park, inviting donors to give, educators to participate, and all of us to reflect.
Our goal is simple: to inspire giving through gratitude and connection, while honoring the educators, rangers, and students who remind us that the best lessons often happen outdoors.

What is Expeditions in Education?

Expeditions in Education is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to inspiring good humans, sparking curiosity, and empowering students and educators to explore, connect with, and protect the natural world through immersive experiences in our national parks. Over the last five years, Dacia and Steve Jones have impacted millions of students and teachers across the planet with their STEM focused programs.

At the core of every adventure is a team that believes learning should feel like an adventure — and ours is no exception.
Dacia — the writer, dreamer, and creative spark. She’s the voice you hear and the face you see — full of energy, ideas, and just a tiny bit impatient when her excitement kicks in. Passionate about storytelling, nature, and helping others find wonder in the world, she brings the heart to every expedition.
Steve — the calm in the chaos. Photographer, videographer, filmmaker extraordinaire, and Dacia’s husband and life partner — he’s the one behind the lens capturing every wild, wonderful moment. From filming in rugged national parks to keeping schedules on track and everyone safe, Steve makes sure every big idea actually becomes a reality.
Dave — the tech guru. When the camera rolls, he makes sure the graphics spark and the website stays top-notch. He keeps the team connected, grounded, and fueled (his snacks are legendary). With his true spirit of teamwork and calm problem-solving, Dave brings balance and brilliance to every expedition.
Together, they are Expeditions in Education — a trio on a mission to connect classrooms with the wonder of the natural world, one story, one park, and one adventure at a time.

STEAM in the PARK is a 5-day, 4-night immersive experience designed for educators who are passionate about nature and education.
Held in breathtaking national park locations, this program offers a unique opportunity to connect with like-minded peers, rekindle your fire for teaching, and gather invaluable resources to bring back to your students, schools, and communities. National Parks Expedition Challenge

At Expeditions in Education, we know that students around the world have the ability to solve problems. We aspire to give them opportunities to do that every single day.
We travel around the country, filming in National Parks in order to bring real-world experiences to students, families, and teachers. We research the challenges that National Parks face and then write STEM content that teachers and parents can introduce to their students and children. Crossing America

Our Crossing America mission is to bring the wonders of National Parks to students everywhere, allowing them to virtually explore these incredible landscapes, contribute to the parks' efforts to meet the UN Global Goals, and connect with peers from all over the nation.
Each month, we’ll offer LIVE virtual events that showcase different National Parks, providing an up-close look at what makes each one unique. And if you can’t attend live, we’ve got you covered—recorded sessions will be available for streaming at your convenience.
