Perry's Victory & International Peace Memorial is a towering monument located on South Bass Island in Lake Erie. It was built to commemorate the Battle of Lake Erie, a crucial naval victory during the War of 1812, where American forces, led by Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry, defeated the British. The memorial also celebrates the lasting peace between the United States, Canada, and Great Britain. Standing 352 feet tall, the monument is one of the tallest in the United States and offers stunning views of Lake Erie. It serves as a reminder of the bravery of those who fought in the battle and the importance of peace between nations.
