- Project Duration: January to May 2024
- Collaboration: Expeditions in Education and Lincoln Boyhood National MemorialAim: To engage students nationwide in storytelling, focusing on the history and significance of ancient trees in our national parks.
- Choose Your Tree: Each participating national park will provide a photograph and GPS coordinates of a significant, ancient tree. Select one that sparks your interest
- Research Deeply: Investigate the history of the park where your tree is located. Understand the environment, wildlife, and historical events that have occurred around it.
- Craft a Story: Write a captivating narrative that brings to life the experiences and events witnessed by your chosen tree. Let your creativity flow and give a voice to these silent witnesses.
- A Unique Map: Your stories will be part of a detailed map showcasing narratives from across the country, symbolically connecting students and national parks
- Celebrate Heritage: This project is a tribute to America's rich natural and historical legacy, coinciding with the nation's 250th anniversary.
- Be Creative: Your story can be factual, fictional, or a blend of both. The goal is to personify the tree and make its history engaging.
- Use Resources Wisely: Utilize the provided photographs and GPS coordinates. Conduct further research to enrich your story.
- Collaborate and Share: Work with your peers, teachers, and park officials. Share your findings and stories for a diverse and rich collection.
